Bito... Check Cathy. I think she missed 5 as well... Soooo 8 winners 5 Losers... can't divide it up evenly like that.

Ryan said...

Ahh yes. The paper you gave me has a red stain on it. Couldn't read it clearly.

Chandler said...

That would be jello.

Chandler said...

I think since there isn't a common denominator... the 5 of us that lost should probably just buy a drink for all 8 winners. it sucks... but it's gambling.

thoughts?

Florian said...

I believe that is how the rules were explained to me. If you cannot divide the numbers of losers into the numbers of winners evenly, then each loser has to buy each winner a beverage.

Leone said...

Jesus... seriously? I need to get batter at this.

Ryan said...

Spelling too.

Chandler said...

I don't want to update the side bar until we agree who owes who how many drinks.

Ryan said...

If chandler would update the sidebar then we could go off of the standings.

Of the losers
1 & 2 buy one drink
3,4, & 5 buy 2 drinks

Next tiebreaker is picking upsets.

After that...

Chandler said...

I think we need to start putting confidence points on the picks. 1-8. What say everyone?

Geoff said...

I'm thirsty!

Ryan said...

What about a "lock of the week" that is worth double.

Get it right 2 points.
Get it wrong -2 points.

Chandler said...

hmm... you could try to use that for a tie-breaker. but we still need to pay you guys

and instead of by ranking... since it isn't an even divisor... should us 5 just buy 8 $1 beers for you winners?

Ryan said...

Yeah. Buy 8 beers put them at a table. Whoever drinks them drinks them.

Florian said...

I like the confidence points idea as a tiebreaker.

Nate Dawg said...

IRL!!! Cathy told you to follow my lead...didnt win this week but didnt lose either...spell check Cathy spell check

Chan I like the "lock of the week". Confidence pts would get too crazy I think.

Ryan said...

I think the lock of the week is simpler. Confidence picks would turn a 3 minute process into a 20 min research ordeal. Might thin the herd a little. I kind of like 26 people making picks.

Florian said...

Problem with lock of the week would be that most might pick the same game. This week it would have been Shockers over I'd Kick That. Thus we wouldn't be in a better position than we are now. Maybe do a lock of the week and predict the score or something like that.

I'm still not sure how you'd use LoW to break a tie. What tie? Are we trying to get one winner instead of 8? One loser instead of 5?

Ryan said...

No. We are trying to put more gambling into it.

We are only picking 8 games. There are only so many ways to pick them.

8 winners & 5 losers is no fun.

LoW should really allow people to go big or go home.

Chandler said...

Ok so you want to do 2 bonus points for getting LoW correct?

YellowBird said...

I bet a pink sock contest would be a real good tiebreaker.

Seriously though, Confidence points sounds like the best method IMO.

I like the idea of putting a score or run total for a select game each week. And maybe the 5 losers should have a flip cup tournament to determine who buys the extra beers. With all these computer phones we should be able to get this done that night at macd's. Isn't there an app for kickball pick 'em winners? If not, Steve Jobs needs to get off his lazy ass and make one.

Ryan said...

Not to be mean to the ladies and/or the non time waster guys.

But confidence points? Good luck.

We have a healthy co-ed participation (( different girls have made picks in the past 2 weeks), why would we want to make it more challenging and scare them away?

Florian said...

So LoW would be independent of the picks altogether, not just used as a tiebreaker? If for instance someone gets 4 right and LoW right, they have six points. Another person gets 6 right but the LoW wrong, then they would be tied as winner of the picks (assuming no one scores higher that week of course)?

Ryan said...

LoW is + or -

Lets say we were doing a LoW and these were my picks for the week and their results

Alcoballics - L
Wakashame - L
Toejammers - N/A
Dollarwells - W
Yegabombs LOW - W
Shockers - W
Balls N Dolls - W
Team Fab - W

Under the current scoring system
5-2

Using the modified stableford
3 points

And using the Lock of the Week
7-2

Ryan said...

Now change the result of my LoW

Alcoballics - L
Wakashame - L
Toejammers - N/A
Dollarwells - W
Yegabombs LOW - L
Shockers - W
Balls N Dolls - W
Team Fab - W

Under the current scoring system
4-3

Using the modified stableford
3 points

And using the Lock of the Week
2-3

keep it how it is

Grifter said...

Why don't we just set the rule more firmly. If you finish last in the picks you have to buy each winner a Beer. If 8 people are last and 6 people are first... then the 6 people will be owed 8 beers. Most likely they will pass them out, play flip cup, throw them at hobo's, whatever.

We don't have to worry about tie breakers, LoW's or points scored... people just get drunk.

We take a risk when we say who will win, if we don't get the pick sright, we lose. fair and square... besides It would be $8 a person. if you cant't afford to lose, don't play. 1-888-admit-it.

Florian said...

Oh yeah, forgot that LoW can be + or -. IPO, it should only be used as a tiebreaker for either winner or loser, but we'll see what the masses say.

Chandler said...

I actually agree with Frank and Grifter

Maybe for the first time ever!

Rob said...

Or if games don't end in a tie, maybe there are less winners and losers. Superbad/Jammers finished we have different results.

SarahB said...

WTF

Geoff said...

Keep it how it is... 8 winners get 8 beers... 8 losers buy 8 beers. It's not that much money. If it is, don't gamble!

Griff said...

I think I agree with Grifter too. Keep it simple. 6 winners and 8 losers means the 8 losers buy a beer for each of the 6 winners. A $6.00 investment for each of the losers that week. Not breaking the bank (unless 25 ppl happen to have duplicate picks one week...feel sorry for that 1 loser!). they will most likely pass a few out, donate to the flip cup table, etc anyways..

bull said...

I agree with Frank, Grifter and Geoff...keep it the way it is. If you dont want to buy 8 beers then make better picks!

MJ said...

total runs scored (of whole league) for tiebreaker

Smithkey said...

keep it the way it is. It is only $8 for the losers this week and doubt there will be any more games with 8 winners for the rest of the season.
