**PICKS ARE CLOSED!! (5 min early just because)**
It's time for the weekly picks! Here's how it works:
Look at the schedule and comment who you think will win each game this week. After the games on Thursday, the person (or people) with the most wrong picks owe 1 beer to the person (or people) with the fewest wrong picks. No, you can not pick teams to tie.
Based on previous seasons, losers usually owe about 3 drinks.... but we've seen it as high as 10+. Most players won't win or lose anything.
There may be a prize at the end of the season for the person with the highest % correct... but they have to make picks every week to be eligible. Good luck!
And like a true dick, Gorecki texted in his picks after the deadline. We're gonna let that slide since we don't want the AARP on our ass. He picks: "Supa, Alco, TBN, KBT and PHD."

Battle For the Brown Shirts!
When the decision was made for BCBC to return to our roots we were a little disappointed to find out that SuperBad was now wearing our doo doo brown shirts and decided to change our name to something gay like Rock N Rollas (Knowlton's idea). Well after some debate of other possible name choices we decided it was best to stick to our roots and go back to Brown Chicken! Brown Cow! Unfortunately it does not make much sense for a team called BCBC to be wear white. This would be like the Cleveland Browns wearing Penn State's helmet. So anyway knowing how competitive Frank is I decided to lay down a little challenge for his team this year and asked him to put their shirts on the line when we play them this season in week 7. Frank being a good sport liked the idea and accepted the challenge. However, Frank does not wear the pants in his relationship and does not have the authority to make executive decisions without first getting permission from his boss (Sandra) so we are left waiting. Since SuperBad has current control over the shirts they are taking all the risk and thus it would only be fair if we offer something up in return so I thought the blog would be a good place for people to offer up some suggestions so if anyone has any ideas please feel free to share.

2011 Leif Nissen Memorial Golf Tournament
This is long over-due, as I've been organizing too many other things lately. However...
The Leif Nissen Memorial tournament is back for it's 4th installment. As mentioned previously, it'll take place on Saturday, September 24th at 1:00pm. We're finally going to try a different location, and have chosen Bardmoor Golf & Country Club. Price will be $35 per person, due BEFORE the tournament date.
We also now have a FaceBook page, for you to "like". This will keep you informed of all information regarding the tournament. Go check that out.
There will be raffle prizes again this year, which is where all of our charity donations come from (we aren't charging you extra for the golf). So bring cash to win some prizes and raise money for the foundation.
The format is the same as in the past: 4-man scramble, shotgun start, prizes going to the winner of each flight, closest-to-pin and long-drive contests. So even if your team sucks, you can still be the winner of the losers!
Finally... be sure to register ASAP. Use the PayPal link below to pay for yourself or your team. If paying as an individual, make sure you list what team you're on (or if you're a free agent). The list of registered players will be shown here.
Thanks for all the support over the years, and for keeping the memory of our beloved friend.

OC takes a break from GKB
As has been noted in the chatterbox over there on the right, the OC has moved back to comfortable old WAKA for the time being. The reasons were numerous, but I won't get into a lot of it so as not to bore you. I will, however, provide a brief summary:
In order to try to get back to having fun, we moved back to where we've had fun before: WAKA. Yes, it's more expensive, but I recently picked up a second job laundering all of WAKA's ill-earned money which I guess was partly mine in the first place, and am now rolling in the extra Hamilton's it took to sign up for the Bayshore division.
So cost no longer being prohibitive, we made the switch. I know it wasn't fun for some of y'all out there playing us, either. We tried to play hard and maybe wanted to win a little too much at times. I do think certain things were blown out of proportion, but it's the past and I'm over and beyond it. Hope there are no hard feelings out there and maybe one day when things get a little more settled we'll head back on over to GKB. I always say the biggest improvement always comes between the first and second season, so I'm sure the league will operate without a hitch and hopefully some better luck in regards to falling trees.
I might do some picks for s's and g's if y'all don't mind, and perhaps I can offer an occasional WAKA scouting report in the form of an MSPaint. I do enjoy doing both of those things.
Your pal,
Jack from Off Constantly
Last spring was the least amount of fun I've ever had playing kickball. Some of it came from within my team, some of it came from other teams in the league, some of it came from the league itself, and some of it came from my work situation. I don't think my work situation factored into the rest of my team agreeing with me about the fun level of the spring, but they agreed on the rest.

Schedule
I received the GOKickball schedule, and have posted it on this blog (and should be up on GKB's site soon).
This season, each team is required to provide ONE ref every week for the game before or after theirs. These refs will be used at first and third, and will assist the paid referee that GKB provides. If you want to also provide someone for 2nd base... go nuts.

The Cost of Kickball - Fall 2011 Edition
In DPT's continued effort to hold kickball leagues accountable for their rates, we've now added a page at the top of the blog showing the pricing trends of leagues in Tampa. Check that out here, or through the permanent link up top.
Remember that some of us were banned from WAKA for complaining about the rising cost of kickball (among other things). It shouldn't cost an arm and a leg to play a children's game while getting drunk with your friends. Just sayin'.
*edit* - I've gone through my emails and pulled up the receipts for every season I ever played in WAKA. So that data goes back to Winter 2008. Their chart now looks like Mt. Everest.
*edit 2* - If any "Old Guard" people want to help gather some data for us... we're trying to go "balls deep" into the old WAKA Bayshore seasons. Search your mail for "wakastore@kickball.com". We need the actual receipts for seasons prior to 2008. Let us know if you find anything. Thanks to James A. for getting us receipts back to Fall 2006.
*edit 3* - Well apparently the blog still has some power. Since this post went up on Wednesday the 10th, WAKA has now LOWERED their price for Bayshore from $83 (late registration) back to $73. Their page still references the $10 late fee, but it's not enforced anymore. They are trying to fill a 14th team, so maybe that had something to do with it. Regardless, they're not raping people as hard as they were two days ago. And our data will accurately reflect this.
