So we're about half-way through our long off season, where posts and commentary trickle in from only the most dedicated of contributors. But that doesn't mean we aren't actively working on other projects. Kickball just happens to be the straw that stirs our drink. It drove our forefather at BayshoreKB crazy, but I'd much rather accept it than fight it. After all, most of us did meet and become friends, enemies, frienemies and lovers through the game of kickball.
The off season is a time to catch up on other activities. While some people (myself included) play kickball year-round, I truly believe it's best to take a break to keep the game and experience fresh. So what are the haps?
The Haps
DPT founded a golf league. We're not too far along in the season but the whole experience has been pretty smooth. Most of my budgeted creative and administrative time has been spent on that this summer. If you like to golf, and want to get out on a regular basis to improve your game, consider joining up after this season.
The Bayshore Ballers won yet another soccer championship and were forced into the competitive division by Tampa Bay Club Sport. They were getting pounded with an 0-6-1 regular season record, but somehow knocked out the 3rd seed in the first round of playoffs last night. It'd be great to get some recaps of their games... but everyone knows soccer players are too concerned with tranny sex to take the time to post things.
Seriously... who thinks this is a chick? |
Finally, GOKickball registration opens tomorrow. Your captain has already been sent the information and discount code so check with them. If they aren't helpful, email DPT at: donkeynoms [at] gmail {dot} com. It's once again only $50 for all ex-WAKA members, which is 23%-40% cheaper than our former kickball provider. In fact, WAKA is now charging $73-$83 for the upcoming 8 game season (depending on when you register). I'll let Eric Cartman tell you my feelings on that price... which is coincidentally similar to what Nate commented on DPT before Jaime, Ty and MLoop placed him on the ban-list.
Anyway, the city fixed the lights at Doc Nance so we will be back there playing in the super-fun and maximized social atmosphere of the "Frank Layout." It also appears a few new teams are coming into the league, so we should have 12 (the most teams we can currently take) even if we lose some people to retirement.
That's all I got for now. Hope you kids are having a good summer, and I'll see you at the Sizzle.

if DPT is #105,601, then DPT Golf has to be #105600 based on the last 24 hours traffic!
