Leif Nissen Scramble Results

The 2nd Annual Leif Nissen Scramble took place Sunday afternoon at the Eagles Golf Club, and initial reviews say it was a fun day of golf. Everything went smooth, and I was really happy with our participation. We had 40 players and a bunch of helpers all coming together to remember our friend and donate to charity... which raised a respectable $400+.

We also got really lucky with the weather. It started out pretty hot and muggy, but a few late showers brought a tiny bit of rain and some cool breeze. The course conditions were about as good as I could hope for, given all the rain lately.

So who won? The children. As in the kids who's lives we made brighter through our charitable donations which will provide a sense of safety and security in these difficult financial times.

Ok... but seriously. Here are the results:

- Flight 1 Champion (1st overall): ToeJammers (Griff, Dawson, Gomez and Scuba Steve) with a score of -6. Two playoff holes against my team couldn't yield a winner, so the scorecard was used starting with the #1 handicapped hole. I must say though... the playoff was very fun and very intense. The team won $40 in gift cards to Wings Gone Wild.
- Flight 2 Champion (4th overall): Alcoballics (Geoff, Duc, Mike G. and Reid). These guys hovered around even par all day... which was good enough to earn them a "Brew Keg" beer kit, as well as a $20 gift card to 220 E. Bistro.
- Flight 3 Champion (7th overall): TheBeerNuts (MJ, Nate, Todd and Paul). The best of the worst! The team took home a Becks mini-keg and 3 free games of bowling! The keg actually has a born on date of 04/08... so it must be 20%+ alcohol by now. Hopefully they'll post video of the team drinking such a finely aged beer.
- Long Drive: Shawn won this competition with a bomb down the fairway on 14. He got a single-day pass to Busch Gardens.
- Closest to Pin: Gomez showed his excellent short game by winning this contest on a hole with a very difficult back pin position. He also won a single-day pass to Busch Gardens. However, since he already has a season pass, he's looking for a lady friend to accompany him. Comment on this post to sign up!

As for the raffle, Drew won the Derrick Brooks autograph. Dawson won some juice, Brent got a XXL PAL shirt for being the largest guy, Michelle scrapped with Missy to win a PAL polo, Irish won a date with Nate, and Maria is getting a PAL hat with her name embroidered on it. Nobody claimed the bottle of ketchup.

I'd like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the following people: Heather, Alicia, Bull, Marla, Brie, April and Josh. They were a ton of help and definitely the reason such an unorganized event went smoothly.

We'll do it again next year! In the meantime... who's up for bowling?!?

Great job putting it together, Chandler.

The pictures turned out pretty well too. I didn't realize how many I had taken. Hopefully we got some of everyone. :)

Great job to everyone that helped out and contributed! I'll reward everyone with that tasty home brew as I'll try and have it ready for the first kb game! Good times!

I had fun with my group through the ups and downs of our round. At one point we went on par streak until Dawson (big time clutch putter) knocked down a huge putt to get us going and from there we didn’t look back. It was a real team effort, especially in the playoff were I believe we hit at least one shot from each teammate. Maybe next year someone can put a team together that can take us down. I DOUBT IT but you can dream! I had a great time, for a great friend, for a great cause. Thanks to everyone who made this happen.

Our team had a blast. Great job organizing it. Def used a whole roll of quarters on jello shots. My buddy Drew was the one who won the Derrick Brooks autographed plaque. Said everyone was hatin on him. lol. Sorry we missed the raffle and pics, Sandra had our dog waiting in the car. Look forward to bowling. We should orgainize a bingo night soon too. Dress up like old foggies.

wurd up...had a great time...the playoff atmosphere at the end was awesome.
Too bad it had to come down to score cards though...we prob. coulda played another half a round before finding a winner on the course!

Once again, a Ligers vs.Jammers battle comes down to the wire....

...and...once again... the Ligers lost it

sad face :(

Damn. All those ToeJammers do is win everything. And I know Gomez doesn't play golf sober (like everything else he does, right?), for anyone out there thinking this team doesn't drink enough.

Really sad I had to miss this for work... :(
I'll make sure Loren and I are there next year.

Still miss my friend... :(

It was organization at its best from Chandler and Marla at the helm and great input from, Bull, Alicia, Heather, Mel, Julie and anyone else who was there but not playing.

I had a great time anyway and am buying a set of clubs this week to be ready for next year, or have another one sooner??

and thanks to Brie for nagging Wings-Gone-Wild to donate those gift certificates! I think the recipients of those (cough Toe Jammers) should let me know when you're at that bar collecting so I can be sure to steal a beer (or two). :P

Thanks Brie for the choc covered cherry jello shots. Amazing.

Can't wait to drink aged Beck

Thanks MJ, but I can't take credit for those chocolate cherry shots of goodness - those were April's creation. Hopefully they'll be making an appearance during the games this season!
