Tonight

Yard of Ale was a lot of fun tonight. And I even made it home before 12:30AM. Great showing by a lot of teams (I'd Hit That, YLLINfuckit, SupaBad, Growlers, Alcoballics). And a dozen+ WAKA people...

Don't get me started on the picks results. Me, Smithkey and Litman owe 7 drinks each (Todd, Teneille, Deeks, Frank, Florian, Nate, Alison).

Go to The Todd's on Saturday. Gonna be awesome. If you don't know about it... text me. All are invited.

Pay Pal Link for Zombie Paintball Hayride

If you'd prefer to use paypal instead of paying the guy over the phone, you can pay me and I will send the place your money, and give them your name.

Haunted Zombie Paintball Hayride Trail Friday, October 28th, 8pm

Ok, I talked to Gavin, the guy at Kohn Sports about getting a group together for the zombie shootin' hayride. Not only did he allow more people to sign up, he was able to give us a group rate for $15 a person, originally $40.
If we can get 20 people to sign up, we can all ride in our own truck/trailer doohickey. If we can get 40 ppl then we get two of our own. Gavin said they drive a flat bed truck pulling a trailer with sides on it, which we will all be riding in. I imagine it to look something like this:
So here's the deal. 15 bucks gets you a paintball mask, gun, air for the gun, 200 rounds of paintballs, 15 minute ride on the trailer, (with guns), then a 30 minute hike through the haunted woods (without guns), followed by a group picture and a piping hot cup of apple cider! Pretty good deal if you ask me.
Gavin said the zombies do not have guns, but will have paintball masks, covered by zombie masks that will look like these, from "I am Legend.":
So, if you want to do this, you must call Gavin at Kohn Sports, and tell them you are with the Frank Nolte party, then you will receive the $15 deal, and will pay with your credit card. He's not able to do a paypal link on their website, because Groupon made him take it down, since it is cheaper than the Groupon rate.

Gavins number and address to Kohn Paintball Sports Complex:
14301 County Rd 672 rd Wimauma FL 33598
(813) 404-1667
Kohnsports.com/kohnfield/zombie.php
Post any questions you guys may have and let me know if you decide to sign up. I already paid for 3 tickets, so I could reserve it for us at 8pm on Friday, October 28th.
Hype!

GKB Tournament & Make-Up Games

GKB just announced to the captains that the tournament will still be on the 15th. Make up games will be held at 6:30pm on Oct 6th and Oct 13th.

Schedule is updated.

DPT BQBL - Week 3 Recap

A couple more scoring updates... read about those on our site or Grantland.com.

Smithkey vs. Souder
Souder came storming out of the gate with 10 24/7 bonus points... due to the Colts publicly announcing that Collin's is their guy. But Souder wanted to get a start for Green Bay out of the way... which netted him 0 points. It was all Smith-Key needed as Blaine Gabbert threw for under 150 yards in a monsoon. The Jags stink. Final score: Smithkey wins 39-26.

Nate vs. Bito
Fitzpatrick is killing Nate this season, and lost him another 11 points. But nobody saw Eli Manning actually having a good game, losing Bito 10 points. McNabb tried his best, with +10 vote of confidence points... but he can't quite beat out Josh Freeman... who statistically is a giant turd. Final score: Nate wins 15-12.

Kyle vs. Chandler
Mark Sanchez. Typical New York asshole, with your 350+ yards and your 3 TDs. Final score: Kyle wins 23-1.

Gorecki vs. Litman
The Seahawks gave TJack a vote of confidence? The bonus points didn't even push Litman to victory, because Gorecki keenly remembered all the hype Nate was talking about Bradford. And in 2011... if Nate is a fan of yours... you're going to lose. Final score: Gorecki wins 34-27.

Leif Memorial Golf Tournament Results

With our largest tournament to date, 64 golfers descended upon Bardmoor to remember our friend and raise money for those less fortunate than ourselves. The weather was hot, but at least the rain held off. Many of us got in the spirit of the tournament, which was evident when the cart girl said to me:

"This is the most fun tournament I've ever worked. A few minutes ago I drove up on two guys wrestling each other."

Naturally, wrestling on the green and riding on top of the cart (Ernie, Chuckers... I think Nate) is a good way to get us kicked off the course. But the head pro and food manager both told me they want us back. I should ask them to make their course a little easier...

We had a ton of raffle prizes this year, and once again THEE Beer Nuts won much of the loot. I want to give a HUGE "thank you" to Alison for soliciting 95% of those items, traveling all over Tampa to get donations, creating all the gift baskets by hand and putting up with me during crunch time.

Also... Alicia, Bull and Gorecki were very kind secure and pick up prizes as well. Heather and Alicia made/sold delicious jello shots. April (short), Paige and Maria were a great help with set-up and picture taking. And all the ladies in general made the event run very smooth. Finally, Nicole E. donated a ton of Heineken beer and merchandise, Teneille donated the liquor, and Anne E. provided all the wine that we raffled.

As for the winners:

Dino won longest-drive... while one of Rob's ringers, Roger M., won closest-to-pin.

We pre-flighted the tournament results in order to reward more than those teams comprised of semi-pro golfers. So 1st, 6th and 11th place all got equivalent prize money. In future years, we'll probably move toward giving more to the lower flights...

- First place went to Rob's team with an impressive 61 (-11).

- The winner of Flight 2 (6th place) was Cong, Quoc, Alex S. and Jase H.

- Team Soul Glo dominated Flight 3 (11th place), with gift cards going to Griff, Ruben, Joe G. and Matt B.

- The last place "Chanomnom Trophy" (donated by Rollo) was once again won by Jared, Chuckers, Knowlton and Ernie... who quit after nine holes due to the 16-over score at the time.

- There were two girl teams who played very well, especially since many of them had never played a full 18 holes before.

Final total raised... $1,525, which is impressive considering we did not charge any fees on top of the golf round. To summarize Chuckers' drunken speech... Leif loved our group of friends and participating in large events where we didn't take ourselves seriously. Whether it was golfing, camping or the countless house-parties he and Heather hosted... we were all together and having the time of our lives. I hope we were able to replicate some of that on Saturday.

Thanks again to all those who attended and donated.

Michael J Fox Foundation - TEAMFOX - New York City Marathon

Kickballers!

First let me say I had a fantastic time this weekend at the Leif Nissen Memorial Golf Tournament. It was great seeing everyone out in honor of Leif. Chandler, Alison and whomever else help organize truly deserved a free hug coupon. You did a fantastic job. Thank you.

So I softly launched my headquarter page a few weeks ago but I wanted to wait until after the golf tournament to really hit my TEAMFOX foundation fundraising. So here we are!

I am running the New York City Marathon on behalf of the Michael J Fox Foundation. I have been in contact with them for nearly a year and they have graciously allowed me to join their TEAMFOX running to bring better treatments and, ultimately, a cure to people living with Parkinson's disease.

If you had a chance to peruse the soft launch a few weeks back, you will see I took a page out of Lisa G's playbook and I wanted to offer a reward for your generosity and since then the prize list has grown.

So donate today!!! Prize eligiblity is set at $10 minimum. You can even donate $5 recurring and by year's end have donated $20 and not felt a pinch. $10 gets you 10 tickets and if you donate $20 recurring or not, I will give you thirty tickets for the raffle. $25 donation will get you 38 tickets. Check out the prize list below and via the link. I have some fantastic items so far and I will be adding to the list. Some of the application process for prizes takes quite a bit of time.

The Louis Vuitton purse is still in the works as well as a few more spas coming on board, a prizes pack from the The Golf Warehouse, more restaurants, game tickets and fingers crossed a cruise but the cruise peeps are hassling me a bit so that is still more a wish lister than a time issue.

Reality hits you hard, bro

Tournament & Extra Games

Who thinks an 8 game season is too short? Every team won't play each other. Some rivalries went defunct this season. Well thanks to the rain out we can change all that.

I had this idea tonight and pitched it to some teams who made it out to yard of Ale and Johnny.

Currently with the rain out, out make up game is on Oct 20th and Tournament on Oct 22. Well since this is an 12 team league, let's play 11 games and not 8. That way everyone can play each other. My idea was to add 3 more thursdays to the season (10/27, 11/3 & 11/10) and to play our Tournament on Saturday November 12th.  Who wouldn't want 3 more weeks of Kickball?

Johnny said we would have to pay for fields, yada yada yada. The cost to play 3 extra games and move the tournament to 11/12 is a grand total of $2 per person.   Not per game, that is for all 3 weeks.  Who doesn't have an extra $2 to play 3 more weeks.

What are your thoughts? Would you be down for this?  3 more games, $2, and more thursday flip cup.

make up dates? GOKB's official response

GAMES ARE CANCELED

No games tonight due to too much water on the fields.

Feel free to go to the bar tonight... I'll probably be there. Wear your shirt so they don't give you crap about the specials.

Make-up dates will be sent by GKB soon.

Rain

Remember kids... we play kickball in the rain.

As of right now, there's also 2 hours and 45 minutes until game time. So just because you see rain outside of your office window... stop freaking out about it.

ESPN’s GoKickball Gameday

Fowler - In misty Tampa, when the fog clears and night falls, kickball's biggest stage comes to life. There is a lot at stake tonight. The countdown clock is ticking. 12 hours till kickoff of a high-end collision with conference and tournament implications up for grabs. Tonight it's the Shockers vs. Superbad.
Announcer - Welcome to GoKickball Gameday, pouring drinks by Yard Of Ale
Fowler - Good Morning Kickball Fans and Welcome to GoKickball Gameday. Alongside Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso; I'm Chris Fowler. We have 4 great games with a lot at stake for all teams tonight. We will to get to those shortly, but first who is on upset alerts this week fellas?
Desmond - I'm concerned with the Growlers defense having allowed 26 runs. I think I'd Hit That upsets them for their first win tonight.
Corso - PH Divas will have problems with the Brown Chicken Brown Teneille defense, but PH Divas finds a way to win this. PH Divas upsets Brown Chicken Brown Teneille

Fowler - Starting off the Slate today is the ToeJammers vs. Pitches Be Crazy.
Desmond - I have little confidence in The ToeJammers, but less confidence in Pitches Be Crazy. ToeJammers get it done today.
Herbstreit - I really think the ToeJammers come back tonight. They allowed 27 runs so far. Where is their psyche? Can Ruben get them back up to still believe they can have a magical season? I think their defense plays well tonight and they put up some runs on offense. I like the ToeJammers to win this game in old school ToeJammers style.
Corso - Not so fast my friend! Pitches Be Crazy wins this game. The ToeJammers are weak, and Pitches Be Crazy Outscores them tonight.

Fowler - Moving on we have 4 teams, 2 games, 1 conference lead at stake. The Tomfoolery Conference will be reshaped tonight. Can both 3-1 teams win and pull head in the conference title race, or will the 2-2 teams continue to make this a 4 horse race. First up it's the 3-1 You Look Like vs. the 2-2 Alcoballics.
Desmond - All the buzz this season has been about Superbad and The Shockers at the top, but to me You Look Like is flying under the radar like a stealth. They beat the Alcoballics tonight and move up into the Elite.
Corso - You Look Like has the 2nd best defense only allowing 7 runs in 4 games. I see no way The Alcoballics can compete with You Look Like tonight. You Look Like wins its.
Herbstreit - I don't think the Alcoballics are that good, but I do think the Alcoballics win the game tonight. They have too much pride after the way their defense started. They turn it around tonight and move into a possible first place tie.

Fowler - Now for everyone's favorite game, the 3-1 Thee Beer Nuts vs. the 2-2 Ligers in The Beer Olympics
Herbstreit - In past years I would pick Thee Beer Nuts here and they would let me down. But this is a changed year for them. They won the BeerJam last week and I think they follow that up with a Beer Olympic Sweep. Thee Beer Nuts win both the Olympics and the Game, despite the Ligers best efforts via Skype to have Bull participating in some of the Beer Chugging events.
Desmond - I want to see how both of these teams respond tonight. Can Thee Beer Nuts keep up the momentum from last week's huge win, Can the Ligers rally around their close 1 Run Lose to Superbad. I think both teams will win several Olympic events putting pressure on the other team's defense with extra advantages for that inning. Which team will capitalize on those advantages? I think Thee Beer Nuts with some great play as of late will take the most of their advantages and win both the game and Olympics.
Corso - I give you two a Good Pick and a double NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS! The Beer Nuts are really hard to beat in the Olympics events but it's not impossible. Yo!, I'll give myself a NOT SO FAST MY FRIENDS! Without Bull it is impossible for the Ligers to beat Thee Beer Nuts in the Olympic Events. However it's on the field where the Ligers have the edge, their defense will corral and contain Thee Beer Nuts tonight. This is a split pick; Thee Beer Nuts win the Olympics while the Ligers win the game.

Fowler - Now for our showdown game. Both teams are looking forward to this one tonight. The toughest test of the season for both The Shockers & Superbad.
Desmond - The pressure is on both teams tonight and the players feel it. I think Superbad steps it up a notch tonight, using that 3-1 defeat last year to the Shockers to fuel their fire. Superbad wins it and gets their payback.
Herbstreit - Everyone is looking forward to seeing the result of this game. I think its 2 great defenses and 2 offenses trying to make plays. The offensive and defensive numbers are very similar for both teams. I think this will be similar to that epic game played 2 seasons ago which was a defensive standoff ending in a 0-0 tie. These defenses are just too good; it's another 0-0 tie tonight.
Corso - You have 2 of the top 3 defenses vs. the top 2 offenses tonight. This is going to be a low, low scoring game. That's the secret. Both teams have won 4 in a row, but only The Shockers win 5 in a row.

Fowler - Enjoy your kickball Thursday

DPT Bad QB - Week 2 Recap

If you didn't think the lockout hurt football, look at Cam Newton. He's tearing apart defenses, because the secondaries did not get enough time in the off season to get on the same page. Bad QBs are now good QBs!

Souder vs. Nate
Freeman looked like a solid start for Nate until he decided to win the game in the 2nd half. Stafford lit it up for the Lions, hurting Souder's team... but his pick of the Colts at #16 is looking to be the steal of the draft. Without Manning, they're doomed... as Kerry Collins scored Souder 26 points. Final score: Souder wins 15-0.

Kyle vs. Smithkey
Two powerhouses of suck going at it in this match-up. Initially, Kyle had the win until Grantland realized they missed some key stats. Both owners had players benched, and Smithkey even got 10 bonus points from the vote of confidence given to Romo from Jerry Jones. I guess that worked, as he came back into the game with broken body parts to win the game, and lose the fantasy (kinda like Chris Simms did before he turned to cocaine). Final score: tie game 91-91.

Gorecki vs. Bito
Bito gave up on MacNizzle too early, and started the Titans and Texans who didn't make many mistakes. But it was a moot point. Philip Rivers had a 3 turnover game, and those bonus points were enough to win. Final score: Gorecki wins 32 - -4.

Litman vs. Chandler
Alex "Small Hands" Smith spurned Chandler again, refusing to suck like he has in years past. And that's just no way to overcome Tarvaris "About to get Benched" Jackson who refuses to complete any significant passes. Final score: Litman wins 36-27.

For those in the league, post up who you're starting next week!

Things Grantland missed, which are now updated:
- Matthew Stafford had over 300 yards passing, which loses Souder 6 more points.
- Josh Freeman had a game winning drive, costing Nate 12 more points (DPT actually emailed this in, and got a response from Grantland thanking us for point it out).
- Sexy Rexy Grossman had a game winning drive, costing Kyle 12 points AND his victory turned into a tie.
- Sam Bradford lost a fumble, earning Gorecki 5 more points.

Other than the Smith Key / Kyle game, no outcome was affected. Next week I'm going to be a little more patient, and let these kinks work themselves out before I update our stats. Let's shoot for Wednesday updates since kickball power rankings come out on Tuesday.

Save The Jugs

Donate 10 bucks towards the end of year raffle for multiple $100 giftcards for Victoria's Secret.
Anita is going to be participating in the Susan G Komen 3 day walk this year, and is looking to raise money for it. What better idea than having a raffle to give away multiple $100 Victoria's Secret Giftcards. The drawing will be held during the playoffs at the fields. If you are in the dog house, or want to get something nice for your yearly date night with the ol lady, donate 10 bucks to Anita, and have a chance to win. It's a win win, even if you lose.
She will be selling raffle tickets from now until the day of the playoffs.

Leif Tournament

Registration for the tournament is now closed. Everyone has paid, except GoMex, which is a huge surprise. (Just kidding Gommie).

Anyway... shotgun starts at 1pm on Saturday. So make sure you get to Bardmoor well in advance to check in and warm up!

Also, coolers and alcohol are NOT ALLOWED on the course. That's the standing rule for every golf course in America... so it makes me wonder if MLoop is actually running the PGA. If you recall the "Cooler Game," you know how we respond to MLoop's rules (that video still makes me laugh). But you must be a little more discrete this go-round. There will also be cart girls out there, so make sure you buy at least one beer from the course so they can make some tips (especially if they're attractive).

Finally... bring cash! All the money we donate to charity is from the raffle and jello-shots. Bring money to win things!! And spread the word to your teammates who aren't in kickball.

See you there.

Week 4 Picks Results

Going out of town every weekend severely slows down my admin duties on DPT. I'd apologize... but I'm currently enrolled in Nate's award winning class titled: "How to Not Care."

Anyway, Litman made some stinky-ass picks last week, and missed three. He owes 8 drinks, one to the following: Chandler, The Todd, Frank, Justin, Florian, Alison, Gorecki and Paige (who each missed one).

As it turned out, I personally owed Litman some money and bought drinks for everyone on that list except Alison and Justin (who I didn't see at the bar).

Scores and standings from last week should be updated now.

Jello Jam '11 Gansta Rap ReCap

Rollin’ with my liggaz into Doc Nance Field,
Jello Jam ’11, these shots are for real,
Maria’s pudding shots are taken on Anita’s
Only Paige gots a bet on my fellow Liggaz,
Random Supa line-up performs like a turd,
Two chicks start it off, then Flo kicking third,
Liger-O hits supa in the Top of the 2nd,
We pull ahead with a run, n that’s how we keep it,
Terminator’s at bat and I’m scared S*** less,
But I catch his kick with center field quickness
Then I pull some BnD black magic outta my back pocket,
And drill a girl off base with my red ball rocket
Bottom of fourth and Ligers come undone,
Defensive errors score a couple of runs,
Chandler could’ve saved the second if he didn’t overthrow,
But that banana whip cream pudding shot hits…. Chandler chokes.
And that’s the end of the Jello Jam game,
Though I drilled another girl just the same,
Random Superbad takes the 1-2 victory
but the Ligers made a showing with awesome D
n Liger -O had a chance to pull back in the 7th inning,
We needed a hero at the plate to keep us winning.
Chandler could’ve saved the game if he didn’t pop up like a ho,
But that banana whip cream pudding shot hits…. Chandler chokes.
We held down Supa n left their bitches sore,
The Blue is for Real, Hear the Ligers roar
N that bitch DPT never stood a chance:
The Todd just popped a ReCap in yo ass

Howl O Scream Oct 7

Last years group outing to Howl O Scream was a hit (despite the fact that I got dragged out in cuffs after 2 haunted houses) so April Tall and I are organizing it again. We are starting to collect your dollars if you want to get the group rate w/ us. We're going on Oct 7th and will be pre gaming in the parking lot by the tram pick up, the same spot as we did last year. Busch Gardens requires an advance order for group tickets if I want to pick them up before the event so money is due to us Sept 29th. You can bring us cash, check payable to Brian Litman or pay with the paypal link. . There is an extra dollar added in if you pay w/ paypal for the fees that they take. If you pay cash it's 36$. Just please let me know who the tickets are for if you buy multiples so I can keep track of this nonsense. If you want to send an invite to anyone else here's the facebook invite.

NO DOGS ALLOWED

Everyone in the league has been sent an email from GKB explaining that we can no longer have dogs on the field. It's in their contract with the city, and is clearly posted at the park that dogs can not be within the baseball facility. Please leave your dogs at home. The baseball team who practices before our games has already complained.

Sam... three time winner of the World's Ugliest Dog Contest.

Litman has clarified with Johnny that you're still allowed to bring your bitches. So no worries, gentlemen.

Jim Crow will be in attendance to make sure yall liggaz dont get your jello shots from the SupaCoolers.. Yall get brown bag willy..

DPT Bad QB - Week 1 Recap

Stats for week one are now updated on the DPT league page.

So how much did everyone suck?

Gorecki vs. Litman
The Bengals and Broncos did a decent job blowing ass for Gorecki, with Orton not completing a pass longer than 25 yards. But they couldn't overcome Tarvarius having two fumbles and an interception, and scoring 35 points himself. Final score: Litman wins 47-20.

Kyle vs. Souder
Souder tried to lose with Cam Netwon's 400+ yard and 3 TD performance. Thankfully the Manning-less Colts saved him. Kyle lost points with both his starting teams (Redskins and Ravens). Final score: Souder wins 6 - -6.

Smithkey vs. Bito
Nobody knows suck like Btio. He keenly drafted and started the Vikings, and then giggled as McNabb threw for 39 yards and scored him 45 fantasy points. Smithkey had no chance, even though he scored the 2nd most points this week thanks to the Raiders and Jags. Final score: Bito wins 52 - 47.

Chandler vs. Nate
What a debacle. Chandler had Ben Rapesburger on the bench who put up career numbers. Then Chad Henne decides only to suck enough to lose his actual game... but not enough to score positive fantasy points. Meanwhile, Nate skates by with Mike Vick, the turnover machine with no arm and horrible accuracy. Final score: Nate wins 5 - 4.

For those in the league, make sure you comment who you want to start in week 2.

BC!BT! Has a new motto!

BC!BT! Has been mentioned in a few posts and have been accused of exploding at the refs for bad calls. We admit that we've gotten a little carried away at times and then apologize after we get our composure back. In all honesty our team morale is in dire straits. Knowlton threatened to quit the team because Smithkey won't let him play the 'enforcer' position where he just runs rampant all over the field. Alicia is pissed because Justin's team beat us and she lost a bet where she had to wash his dog. Tony got hushed by the Shockers after he dropped a ball that hit him in the stomach. Gomez is fuming (pun intended) because we decided that we didn't want the Friday soundtrack playing during our games and Smithkey is just stressing about the finale of Big Brother on Wednesday. So we're coming back with a vengeance and have a new team motto...

Information

I've been asked to post the following information:

GKB Tournament - The tournament is schedule for Saturday, October 15th.

GKB Season Party - The Party is scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd at Wings Gone Wild.

Both of those will be shifted if we have rain-out issues during the rest of the season. But put them on your calendar, and EMAIL YOUR TEAMS. I'm sure GKB will send out an email soon with this same info... but there's no reason for anyone to claim ignorance (like some people did last season).

Finally... the Leif Golf Tournament is quickly approaching. I have to get the parings to the course by the end of this week. So if you haven't paid... you need to do that now. If you have paid, then check with your partners to make sure they've paid.

BC!BT! vs Shockers

The game in a nutshell
The Shockers were a better team and played better kickball then BC!BT! They took a 3-0 lead in the first inning with perfectly placed kicks and wise base running. BC!BT! played a competitive game and cut the lead to 3-1 holding the Shockers on offense but unable to score more then 1 run thanks to a solid Shockers defense. They eventually took a 4-1 lead and it was that score most of the game until all hell broke loose. In the 5th inning BCBT defense broke down and Shockers scored like 3-4 runs busting the game wide open. BCBT went in to clown mode just goofing off the rest of the game but still managed to score 2 more runs. To sum it all up BC!BT! actually played well (despite what the score might show) but Shockers just played much better. Now on to the play in question.
Basically someone bunted the ball and it started fair but ended up in foul territory. I was playing third and charging for a bunt but never hear fair or foul called. Gomez was playing catcher and wisely let the ball roll foul where it settled clearly outside the lines. Apparently the ref very faintly stated the ball was a fair ball sometime while it was in play. As half our team is yelling and pleading to the ref to look at the ball and call it foul the Shockers players continue to round the bases. Finally Gomez picks up the ”foul” ball and throws it at a player who is attempting to score (fromfirst) on the play. The player catches the ball as he is sliding into home and is called safe. Once again my team eupts with anger at what we believe to be another blown call. I will admit the play at the plate was very close and could have gone either way but I would bet money he was out. The problem my team had was the fact that the ref REFUSED to view the ball looking down the baseline like anyone with common sense would. Instead he stuck by his mute call of fairball while viewing the play perpendicular to the baseline. Just because the ref ruled fair at one point does not mean he cant change his call to foul once the ball rolls to a stop in foul territory and has yet to be touched. Regardless of the calls BC!BT! was clearly out played by the Shockers and did not deserve to win the game.
Myself and some of my teammates did not handle the situation the way we could have and were guilty of getting caught up in the game and for that I apologize. The ref did call a fair game and everyone (including myself and paid professionals) have blown calls before and will do so again in the future. Below is an illustration of the play.

Message from Ryan

Just saw this on GKB's FaceBook page, from Ryan, the ref of the BC!BT! vs. Shockers game last night:

"Hello there. I just wanted to address something from last night on here, if I may. Not sure how many people from "Brown Chicken, Brown Cow" check this page but I'm opening apologizing for any calls last night you may have thought were wrong on my part. I realize there were a couple calls last night that were very close that you guys may have thought I missed. I'm not perfect, and I may have missed them. But I promise you, this is my third season reffing and I will get most of those calls right. The only problem I really had was the reaction I got from the team. If you ever have any issues with a call that ANY of us refs make, PLEASE address it when the ball is not live and back to the pitching mound. I have no problem talking things over with the CAPTAIN of the team about a call.

Just remember, we're doing the best job we can as umpires. We're not perfect and shouldn't be expected to be. None of us have any problems talking about a close play or call if it's brought to our attention respectfully. Thanks, guys! -Ryan"

I didn't see the questionable call(s), nor did I see Knowlty Poo run off with the ball in the middle of the game. But what's with beating up refs lately? Bad calls happen all the time, regardless if the ref is paid or if it's us reffing our own games. Certainly we haven't forgotten that only the captain should be arguing calls.

I don't know. Just seems like a lot of people lately have been covered by the slime in Ghostbusters 2... which was created by the shitty attitudes of New Yorkers.

Example one... SuperJam Slip-n-Slide Game?

DPT's Bad Quarterback League

Stolen from Grantland.com, eight of us snuck off to a corner of the bar last night to hold a Bad Quaterback Draft. Follow it using the link at the top of the blog. If it goes well... it's one more thing to make football season a fun, gambling mess.

USF Game

I bought some tickets to the USF game, and I think there will be a bunch of us going tomorrow night. Is anyone else going, and want to meet up and tailgate?

Probably be grillin and will have some games.

Picks Results - Week 3

It appears that Nate Dawg won the picks... with a perfect set.  That's two out of three weeks that people have gone perfect.

The losers, who all owe him a drink, include Teneille, Litman, Justin and Caruso. They missed 3 games.

Nate... get your damn drinks next week.

Lots to update today...

Kickball GameDay - Week 3

Fowler - In the south, in the heat of Tampa, Kickball Thursday serves up a tasty treat for fans everywhere starved of their kickball. GameDay getting you ready is Next!

Who is on upset alerts this week fellas?

Corso - The leader for Thee Beer Nuts is Nate L. He is an athlete who can cause all kinds of problems on offense and defense. Thee Beer Nuts upset Alcoballics behind a game winning run from Nate, but its close.

Herbstreit - I'd Hit That are a lot better than people expect and I wouldn't be shocked if they pull the upset tonight on the Ligers.

Desmond - The PHDivas defense is the story here. They have been horrible recently. For me the upset is going to be if Pitches Be Crazy doesn't score double figures tonight.

Fowler - And a crucial test for the Growlers today, hoping to unleash their weaponry. Is Robert's bunch still a top tier team, or is that ancient history?

Corso - Hey listen to this. The Growlers are 0-2, allowing 8.5 runs a game, yet they are a 3 point favorite. Yo! Somebody knows something about this one. I'm going with that somebody, Growlers win.

Herbstreit - You Look Like I Need A Drink has the defense, a balanced attack, depth and the versatility to cause problems for the Growlers tonight. It's going to be another tough game for the Growlers and a 0-3 start.

Desmond - I think Robert is on the hot seat tonight to get a W and turn around their program. Their offense is scoring 13 runs but they need to improve the league's 2nd worst defense with 17 runs. Fortunately for them, You Look Like I Need A Drink doesn't have a real playmaker, and they benefited from a weak schedule in allowing only 4 runs. That changes tonight, Growlers win by double figures.

Fowler - Meanwhile, the Shockers blow in as favorites over Brown Chicken, Brown Teneille, but skeptics abound. A ton is at stake for both.

Desmond - I think Brown Chicken, Brown Teneille's defense rallies tonight, and that will carry the team to a victory.

Corso - Not so fast my friend! Listen to this. The Shockers average 8.5 runs a game, and on defense they allow 4 runs a game. So they are going to be tough to beat. I like the Shockers tonight.

Herbstreit - Brown Chicken, Brown Teneille are physical and will come after the Shockers tonight. In the end the Shockers get it done here. They have too much talent.

Fowler - ToeJammers vs. Superbad tonight, which contender will still be standing at the end of an exciting night?

Herbstreit - This might be the fastest game you watch all year. I think it's Superbad with their defense and efficiency even though the ToeJammers will fight tonight in a battle.

Desmond - The ToeJammers had problems last week and I think it's going to be another tough game for them. Superbad wins this in a blowout. One thing that caught my attention after reviewing ToeJammers tape last week, was the gloves! I know their 3rd baseman wants to be like me, but this is kickball not football. Lose the gloves man!

Corso - Good Pick. Listen to this. Superbad won 2 in a row, make it 3 in a row tonight. They outscore the ToeJammers tonight. Now it's party time, pass out the Stoli Doli's!

Fowler - Enjoy your kickball Thursday
