If this kind of accidental humor isn't in DPT's wheelhouse, I don't know what is. So get down on it.

DPT Summer Trip

From the idiots who helped* plan "Key West 2008," "Key West 2009" and "Savannah 2010"... we bring you...

WHITEWATER RAFTING 2011!!!

We're driving up to Tennessee for Labor Day weekend, renting cabins and spending one day on a raft. Many of the details are still being worked out, but put this trip on your calendar. Tentative plans are:

Drive up Friday, September 2nd. It's about 8hrs drive.

Whitewater rafting down the Ocoee River on Saturday (all day).

Sunday, we'll do whatever activities we can find in the area (hunting squirrels?).

Monday, return to Tampa.

**UPDATE**

The cabin has been booked! As of right now it will cost $100 per person for the entire weekend...that price could go down if more people decide to join us. Features include: room for 18 people, hot tub overlooking the river, indoor swimming pool, grill and smoker, game room, hiking trails, and three canoes we can use. The cabin is located in Ellijay Ga. about 15 miles from where we will be rafting.

Either way, this trip will be a nice change from our normal "stumble around some city wasted" outings. As in - "stumble around the mountain woodlands wasted."

Do you like Boobs?

Great!! I know you all love boobs so I wanted to post briefly to let all of you know, if you don't already, that we are having a Jewelry Party at Angie's house on Thursday to raise money for the 3 day walk! If you didn't get the FB E-vite comment here with your FB info and we can add you to get all the info. I'm planning on bringing plenty of Wine to get you all liquored up to spend your money and some snacks too. So come buy jewelry and eat and drink for free and help support us for the 3-day for the cure walk we are doing in October. (Save the Tatas, Stop the War on our Rack, whatever you think is funny and punny) If you don't want to buy anything and just want to give us your money, that can also be arranged by going to www.the3day.org and click donate and put in one of our names. (Maria Dodick, Angela Geiger, Anita Longton) Steph's walking too but already made her goal... so please give to the rest of us! :) We are also planning a bar crawl TBD so keep in the loop and we would love to have you and I know you fools all like to drink. Stay tuned! Thanks for letting me solicite to you all. Have a great day.

New Logo

The new DPT logo was designed and created by Geoff.  You know... because he loves himself some DPT and that's kinda what he does (check it out... you might need him one day).

As for the old logo... it held a special place in my heart. Hell... I made my own pumpkin stencil out of it.  But we HAD to stop using it.  Unlike WAKA (who we caught violating the "Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act", and subsequently reported them to GOKickball's legal council), we're going to proactively do the moral thing.  That logo had a great run.

So what Geoff came up with is pretty polished.  That should make SuperBad happy since they allegedly think we're crude, childish and immature assholes.  But I like it, so give it some time to grow on you.  If it doesn't... post some suggestions!

By the way, Geoff did the design for a few bro-hugs.  And I don't think those can be considered "selling out."  Even if he is "the man."

-------------

In other news... we officially booked two hours of karaoke for the season party on May 7th.  Flip-cup reservations will be requested soon and the ToeJammers will be there to compete.

Also, Lisa WON the Lady Gaga contest.  In reality, 95% of her votes came from the daily emails and Facebook posts she diligently created.  But the point is... ANY of us should have the same ability to win contests, or raise monies or get support through our community.  I really hope some of you out there voted and contributed to her victory.  While I personally don't like any of Gaga's music... put yourself in Lisa's shoes.

It would be like if Ruben got to meet Cesar Millan, Griff got to spend a day with George Michael or YellaBird won a night drinking sangria with Ru Paul.

Dreams can come true.

WAKA Bayshore Season Party

Ever feel like the grass is always greener? Well, it's not.  Our memories get jumbled due to things like Proactive Interference, giving us a skewed view of our reality today from constantly holding on to an already skewed view of yesterday.

It's complicated.  But let me tell you about the WAKA Bayshore season party that took place last Saturday.

As you can see by this Facebook event, they hosted a party/pub crawl at MacDinton's.  Huh?  How can it be a pub crawl at only one bar?  Well, they "piggy backed" onto MacDinton's already planned "Spring Break Crawl."  The rumor is as follows:
  • The actual party lasted from 2pm to 5pm.  During that time Bayshore members got free Red Stripe beer... which was also provided to everyone else at the bar from 4pm to 5pm.
  • Flip-Cup Tournament was supposed to be at 2:30pm... in broad daylight... but I'm not even sure one took place.
  • After 5pm, the kickballers could go on the Spring Break Crawl and pay for drinks along with the masses of idiots who still attend these events.
Insiders tell me the turnout was horrendous. One member of the new team Rocky Tops said it was so pathetic, they're interested in moving over to GOKickball next season.

I hesitate to report all this, because I'm not sure what kind of party GKB is setting up for us.  It's ridiculous to think we'll have 16 kegs and food like we used to, just based on league size alone.  But I hope they take note that a shitty season party IS enough to make people want to quit a league.  Whereas an awesome party with free beer flowing late into the night will cause people to tell all their friends, enemies and frenemies about how wonderful kickball is socially.

Alas... I just work for DPT, so I report things as I hear them.  And today I heard that WAKA Bayshore threw the most pathetic season party in their storied history.  Ironically, Breaker is doing an actual gathering at Wings Gone Wild later this month.  I guess that division is now their pride and joy.

DPT Golf League!

**EDIT** Go here for the official golf league pagedptgolf.blogspot.com

Outside of the countless kickball seasons, DPT members also compete in soccer, volleyball and bowling leagues (with varying results).  Today, we form our own golf league.

Although... we probably shouldn't.
DPT has always been in favor of slapping little balls with clubs, and even hosts the annual Leif Nissen Memorial Golf Tournament.  But we couldn't find a league in Tampa that fit our schedule or budget.  So Geoff and I decided we should just do it ourselves (which seems to be the trend lately).  Here's how it works:
  • Format will be two-man scramble with head-to-head match-ups. Official rules to be posted later.
  • All teams will be handicapped throughout the season using the USGA formula.  Initial team handicaps will be determined using the "DPT Method of Guessing."
  • Games will be played on Sundays around 10am, scheduled a week or two in advance. If there is a major conflict for most players, games can be held on Saturday or the week will just be skipped.
  • Season length will be determined by the number of teams who sign up.
  • League fee is $10 per player, due the first week.
  • Since we're booking tee-times weekly, there will be 100% flexibility on the courses we play (based on league input). We'll play wherever, and might even throw a par-3 course in there one week.
There are many more details to be ironed out, but we're looking to start in early May.  So let us know if you're interested, keep your Sundays open, and tell us who is on your team.

One last time

Hey guys. Just wanted to beg for votes one last time in the contest I entered to meet Gaga. Feel free to scroll down to the original post if you missed it or haven't seen the daily updates I've been posting on facebook about it. Voting ends at 10pm on Tuesday so you won't have to deal with me much longer. Please continue to vote daily and badger your friends to do the same. Just register your email address and click vote. I have no idea of the standings but if facebook likes have any indication of how this contest is going, I am by far the front-runner. You know no one deserves this more so please help me stuff the ballot for the next few days so I can secure this win!
Thank you!

Vote here.

How to Win Crystal Pitcher*

*Or whatever we call it

For the first time in Tampa history, the "Crystal Pitcher" votes are analyzed.  Below are the results:

So what have we learned?
  • All of Drunk Again's 13 votes went to SuperBad.
  • Only 5 votes from Off Constantly were turned in.  Maybe they're trying to say nobody else is fun?
  • Bunt Chasers spread their votes out to every team in the league (except the Shockers), presumably in an attempt to not help another team out with votes.
  • The final two teams in the tournament, Growlers and Shockers, received the fewest votes (3 and 2 respectively).
The best way to win is get an entire team on your side.  Thanks to Alison for handling all the administrative work on the ballots, and basically running the contest in a way that prevented any cheating.  This off-season we'll work on getting something for the award.

Crystal Pitcher... Or Whatever

In somewhat of a landslide, SuperBad won their second Crystal Pitcher award, for the most fun team in the league.  Ironically, only CJ was still around when the votes were tallied, and he was the only SuperBadder to show up at Rajin Cajun. C'est la vie.  The people have spoken, and I can't even say it's the worst voting decision we've made in the past few years.

I think I still have all the ballots stuffed in my sports bag, so I'll post up some graphs of which teams voted for which.  Kinda like they do for congress.

Crystal Pitcher Picture!  Congrats, CJ!

Oh, and the only two new names suggested for this award were "Shining Light" (which is probably dated and will lose it's intended meaning over time) and "Beaver Liquor" (umm, yep).

Ginnie Springs 2011

Tube, Kubb and Lube is back for 2011! This year it's May 20 - 22. We've been doing it since 2008, let's keep up the shenanigans. Everyone I had on Facebook is invited, forward on to anyone I missed... This isn't a Beer Nuts trip, so all are invited!

Midnight tube runs, albino split back clams and tipsy twister are all included on the agenda... and hopefully a few crazy gang banging nude locals running around the "magic fire".

We'll be at the usual spot. Hope you all make it out. If you have any questions send them my way or consult the Ginnie web site (which has some fantastic sound effects):

Final Pick Results

Chandler, JW and Alison missed one game in the make-up round, and each win a drink from Nate, BeardFace, The Todd and Rollo.  But since it's the off-season, good luck collecting on that shiz.

JW also finishes the season as the top picks winner.  Eventually I'll figure out some prize to hand out, but for now... good job ol' chap.

So we survived our first season away from the World Accuracy Kick Association.  I thought the tournament went pretty well, and at least BeardFace's meltdown was about a shitty call made by a player (and not a paid ref).  Interestingly enough, WAKA's tournament ended with PMU getting screwed in the Final Four due to multiple horrible calls... and then a fight between Balls N Dolls and some n00b team in the finals ended with multiple ejections.  Of course, Phil getting punched in the face won't lead to any bans from the league... because the guy who did the punching doesn't blog and thus is a perfect kickballer in WAKA's eyes.

But I digress.  It's Ginnie Springs, summer DPT trip and weekly trivia season. Stay tuned for all the parties and trips.  Everyone is welcome, and we'll post details once we get off our ass and make them.

GKB Season Party is May 7th.  Don't forget. We'll be asking for flip-cup RSVPs soon.

Bracket Results

We had 21 brackets submitted, and collected $105 for the winner.

Here are the results:

Maria - 16
TJ (Growlers) - 15
YellowBird - 15
Austin (Growlers) - 14
Caruso - 13
Dee - 12
Ray - 9
Teneille - 8
Chandler #1 - 8
Chandler #2 - 8
Reid - 7
Alison #1 - 6
Jason (DAaLtS) - 6
J.W. - 6
Austin H. - 5
Nate - 5
Souder - 5
Matt R. - 5
Kristen - 4
Ruben - 3
Alison #2 - 1

Maria, TJ, YellowBird and Austin (Growlers) had the exact same brackets with the exception of the play-in games.  But Maria was the ONLY one of these 4 to pick a Liger loss, giving her the one point needed to win outright.  Growler Austin somehow missed BOTH play-in games, picking the Bunt Chasers over the Shockers in round one.

So Maria wins $105.  Good job.

My Grill Disappeared

Hey everyone,

In the wake of our second consecutive kickball championship, my Coleman Tailgate grill disappeared today. I left it on the concrete slab next to the dugout because it wasn't allowed on the field today.

If anyone picked it up or knows of it's whereabouts please let me know. It looks like the grill pictured below, but it has a Rays sticker on it and it's really dirty. I also have the connector for the propane hookup so the grill won't really do anyone any good without it.

Thanks,

Robert

Friday Explained

so you dont get your days mixed up and miss the tournament

Yesterday was ________
Today is ______
Tomorrow is ________
And ______ comes afterwards

GOKickball Touranment + Other Ramblings

The tournament is STILL scheduled for tomorrow.  Tell your teams!  I had a couple of people inform me they didn't know this, which makes me scratch my head because 1) the tourney date has always been posted as 4/2/2011 and 2) we're in our 8th week so shouldn't everyone assume that the tournament is sometime around now?

Anyway, last night GKB emailed the captains to vote on how to handle the tournament and make-up games.  The majority (Ligers, Alcoballics, Beer Nuts, Shockers, Pitches be Crazy, Bunt Chasers) voted to have the make-up games TOMORROW morning.  Games are at 10am (Ligers vs DAaLts / PBC vs BC / OC vs TBN) and 11:10am (Shockers vs Super / Alco vs Growlers).  Touranment starts at 12:30pm.

Wake up early and bring mimosas.

Drink these and deal with it.

Robes on the Growlers is concerned with playing a possible 28 innings tomorrow if his team wins the championship.  So when filling out your bracket, be sure to put them down for losing in the final four.  Speaking of brackets... I'll have blank ones since seedings will happen after the make-up games.  Bring $5 for every entry.  Winner takes all (1-2-4-6 points by round).

None of you people came out to the bar last night, which is slightly understandable after the apocalypse storm.  But GKB corporate guys were in town, and I told them as many complaints/suggestions as I could remember.  Granted, we were all drinking, so I need to email them an official list.  Please comment or email me (or the blog: donkeynoms@gmail.com) anything you want the corporate guys to hear.  They did say that they'll have a new website in a couple of months.

The season party is STILL scheduled for May 7th at Wings Gone Wild.  GKB kids are free, everyone else is $10.

And finally... the most important announcement...

After the tournament we're heading to Ragin Cajun!  Don't miss out on that...  It's the shitty bar on Hillsborough (1735 W Hillsborough Ave, Tampa FL).
