BayshoreKB Fantasy Football

Okay, so I've been a little bored at work today and decided to review our draft from yesterday and break down who had the best draft. Since we drafted using the Yahoo system, I used the Yahoo Pre-Draft Rankings. So this may differ from the player ratings of other sites, such as ESPN. With 16 rounds of picks, people sometimes take a flier and draft someone they typically wouldn't otherwise because of the sheer number of picks at their disposal. With this in mind I ranked each team including all 16 picks, and then again (eliminating one pick as an outlier) including only the top 15 picks. I then made starting line-ups for each team (one utilizing a 2RB and 2WR setup, and one utilizing a 1RB and 3WR setup) and averaged the player ratings for each line-up to once again rank the teams. Finally, I used the players left over for each team and ranked the back-ups because there are always injuries. So, basically I spent way too much time being un-productive at work today. Enjoy...

Wow you were unproductive today. Interesting stuff, though I'm not sure I understand all of the data. Is it better to have a big or small number?

It's based on a 1 to who knows what scale with 1 being the best. So the lower the number the better. All of the ratings are based off the Yahoo pre-draft rankings that we used yesterday to draft, thought I'd keep it consistent.

Should be humorous to go back and look at when the season is over.

That's the same thing I was thinking. I appear to be in good shape now but after half my team goes down with season ending injuries, we'll see what happens.

Yeah Chandler, I kinda felt like Will Ferrell (In Old School when he goes off on the tangent at the debate then snaps back to reality) when I was doing this. I have moments of brilliance, then I plop back on the couch and drink another beer.

hmmm so to summarize:
ManCrushForTebow (Mike G.) and StepDads (Nate) should be winning every game.
And TheeFightingIrish (Dawson) should be sucking the big one.

Can you run our kickball season through these equations?

I bbm'd Dawson telling him to check this post out. He writes back; "wow my team sux". Ha!

LOL, Scuba good work, you were really unproductive...I remember those days when I use to work at OSI...

Actually my team on whole isnt bad. For some reason Vinatieri is ranked like shiz, which kills my AVG. So maybe that will balance out as the season goes on, well I hope anyways.

Very interesting results, only suggestion I would make is to remove the defenses and kickers from your equations. Kickers and Defense make the least amount of difference(unless you have Dawsons Steelers), but they are having the biggest effects on your outcomes.

Mike, I ran the numbers again excluding the kickers and defenses and it really didn't change much. Nate, Mike G., and Me were still 1-3 and Dawson was still last. It jumbled up the middle six a little but it was mostly percentage points. Most of the kickers and defenses are ranked fairly close.

Of course any team with the name Tebow in it is gonna be at the top of the list!
