The Cost of a Party

As promised, the complete breakdown of the past three WAKA parties is uploaded on the right-side of the blog (in the WAKA section).

These costs were taken directly from our contracts with the venues.  Hopefully our group will use this historical data as a gauge for future negotiations.

There are, however, a few open "issues" I'd like to document. I know Brie is already working on some of these, but so feel free to add additional questions you want brought to her attention:

1) Has our rain-out week been resolved yet? It's most likely PAL will have to refund us for the missed game, but how much is that refund and what are we doing with that cash?
2) What happens to all the non-kickballer fees at our mid-season parties? Where does the money collected at the door go?
3) How much have we donated to charity each season?

We'll have more updates as soon as we get additional information.

I spoke with Ty about topic #1 last week and he told me that we will make up that game the week after the tournament. This would be one of the two random games that would not count in the standings anyway.

sounds easy enough. hopefully he'll send out a league email to make it official.

#1 - On the schedule, it says the game we missed will be on April 1st & the April 1st game has been pushed to April 8th.
#2 - In the past the money collected at the door has gone to the charity.

When can we expect an Alco-Bikini or at least a Bayshore Division bikini calendar?

To clarify #1:

We pay PAL for 10 games. Pushing "Week 5" to April 1st and "Week 8" to April 8th is not an issue.

We're still owed either a 10th game which would be a "fun week," or the league gets refunded 1/10th of our field fees.

If Florian's reporting is correct, we'd be playing an extra week after the tournament (April 22nd).

Regardless, a league-wide email needs to be sent out telling us what happens to the game we lost.

We could make up the final game on April 22 however, I think a vote should be taken among the league. Not sure how a “regular” season game will go over right after playoffs. An option is to apply that money toward our budget and use it toward the “after playoff party.” If we go back to Wings Gone Wild, that’s nearly 5 kegs of Bud Select right there ;)

I say we add the week to our party budget and get some more kegs! I'm not going to play kickball AFTER the tournament...that's just silly!

Agreed. Making up the game after the tournament will be tough. We should request a refund from PAL for $315.00 (which, per the linked contract, should be the cost of one Thursday night game and lights). That's a nice amount to add to our budget for after the playoffs!

Yep totally agree with Brie, Bull, and the rest to put it good use. Who's going to want to play after the tournament?... No one!
