Maybe we shouldn't be paying for parking?

And that IS a shiny new ATV Mr. Parking Lot guy rolls around in now. What happened to the 1978 Epcot-TomorrowLand-Electric-POS he was driving?

Items Also of Note:
On January 1, 1992, the Florida Solicitation of Contributions Act went into effect. This law regulates solicitation of public contributions and requires full disclosure of certain information from persons soliciting contributions in Florida.

Which leads to Florida Statues Chapter 496

496.407 Financial report.--

(1) A charitable organization or sponsor that is required to initially register or annually renew registration must file an annual financial report for the immediately preceding fiscal year upon a form prescribed by the department. The report must include the following:

(a) A balance sheet.

(b) A statement of support, revenue and expenses, and any change in the fund balance.

(c) The names and addresses of the charitable organizations or sponsors, professional fundraising consultant, professional solicitors, and commercial co-venturers used, if any, and the amounts received from each of them, if any.

(d) A statement of functional expenses that must include, but not be limited to, expenses in the following categories:

1. Program.

2. Management and general.

3. Fundraising.

***I'm pretty sure WAKA falls squarely into this category***

496.411 Disclosure requirements and duties of charitable organizations and sponsors.--

(e) Upon request, the source from which a written financial statement may be obtained. Such financial statement must be for the immediate past fiscal year and must be consistent with the annual financial report filed under s. 496.407. The written financial statement must be provided within 14 days after the request and must state the purpose for which funds are raised, the total amount of all contributions raised, the total costs and expenses incurred in raising contributions, the total amount of contributions dedicated to the stated purpose or disbursed for the stated purpose, and whether the services of another person or organization have been contracted to conduct solicitation activities.

I would love to see that we are only giving them a few $100 per season. It's just like WAKA to rip them off!! But I'm pretty sure we give them around $1500 a season. In fact new betting game...what's the over/under on what we pay PAL??

Grifter said...

Over/Under Officially set at $2000.

Let the betting begin.

I am not actually going to collect or pay any of you...

Geoff said...

I'm taking the over... are we including what the parking guy collects?

We must also remember that PAL is a charity, while their income might exceed their expenses, that doesn't meant that someone is going to get a bigger bonus this year.

I have no problem giving $ to them as long as they aren't flaunting it.

Yes they got a new ATV, but as the post mentioned, "What happened to the 1978 Epcot-TomorrowLand-Electric-POS he was driving?" It probably broke down and they had to get a new one, happens all the time. especially to equipment that is older than I am.

I don't think our beef should be with PAL. WAKA has a set agenda. Make money. They are not a 501.c.3. we can't forget that.

Would I like the lights on a little bit longer? Sure. Could Ty cool it off and let people finish their games, and be a little more lax on enforcing the paper forfeits? Absolutely, especially when the team is 1-2 and isn't challenging anyone for the league title.

Bottom line is our contract with PAL is going to come back, HNiB is going to say how he can run a much better league, etc, etc.

Why not try to suck as much fun out of KB knowing that while we do pay a lot of money to play, it is still the best situation we have. I just don't want this to turn into a "Grass is always greener" situation.

HORN.

Per Season. That is 10 weeks.

$1500 is too low. That would come out to $150 a week.

I'd say its at least $300-400 a week, So $3000-4000 is my bet.

PAL didn't invent a 200k surplus.

As for Grifter, I'm not complaining about the purchase of new equpiment(if it is actually needed, however for a "charity" a brand new shiny ATV is what I would call a luxury item)

I'm complaining that they had a 200k surplus and yet still felt the need to charge us for parking. They rake in $150 or more a week on parking, where does that go? Does it go to the guy? Or does it go in the general fund and he is paid like an employee?

NHiB

Those are all good questions. perhaps since we got the bar where we host our season parties at to lower the cost of Kegs, we see if we can negotiate free parking with PAl using the money we save? that way we save an extra 10 per season per car...

Or we could carpool.

Would you suggest that they go out and buy a used one that could break down? While a used ATV would come at a cheaper upfront cost, you know it won't last as long as a new one. Why not get the new own and have it last for another 35 years, rather than get one made in 1988, getting only 10 more years out of it?

Any ATV = Luxury item.

If the parking guy is taking home all the profits from each car parking for $1, you will def see me applying for his job next season, on Tuesday and Thursday nights. I could use an extra $300ish a week.

And even if he only gets $100 of what he collects, for 3-4 hours of work? Not a bad pay day! I want that job!

Chandler said...

The contract doesn't state what they pay Marcos. That's up to PAL, so really a moot point. However, all of our problems would fixed if PAL even knew we had concerns. I honestly don't think they know we wanted longer light time.

Grifter said...

I would think that an ATV is a modest expense. Think of all the kids and leagues they have out there and all the equipment that they have to tote around. They need some sort of vehicle.

Ask Nate Dawg, I bet he wished he had an ATV when he was setting up the fields.

Nate Dawg said...

Im gunna take the over on the $2K

Nate Dawg said...

Grifter...I do wish I could have used that ATV...

Maria said...

Sooooo, instead of bitching about everything and about Ty we should just go to PAL ourselves and ask, like Alison did. Her and the parking attendant are tight now.
