Party Venue Power Rankings

Since there are power rankings for everything else, I figured I'd make one for party venues we have had since I started in the league. Feel free to sound off if you don't agree with something or notice a pro/con that I missed.

Dont know how many people in the league were acutally there but you forgot Hooters at Channelside. We had our end of season party there after my second season. Not sure where it was after the first season...probably MacD's...

Ha.. forgot about the Banana Joe's party. Lots of random karaoke that night. Didn't Flo sing "Barbie Girl" in a ridiculous high pitch voice?

Dont remember that but I think me and 3 other beer nuts did a backstreet boys song or something like that...

Yeah Nate, I joined the first season we played at PAL so any parties before that were not included since I didn't know about them.

Yes Kimmy, Banana Joe's was the scene of my "Barbie Girl" karaoke performance. Still don't know who made me sing that.

Seems like parking is kinda a big deal to you flo. I agree with your rankings for the most part although I was not there for a lot of them. Ricks on the River was the ultimate disappointed for me. They had so much potential but were such a let down. Perhaps just better negotiations are in order with them.

You probably should have included keg costs in the rankings. You know kickballers and their beer... it's important! :)

Actually, we tried giving Rick's a second chance and they came back to us with a quote of $4,328! This is after we gave them a $2600 budget to work with...I think it's safe to say that Rick's will not be the future home of any WAKA parties unless they get new owners or new attitudes!

As for kegs:
WGW - $84 and $68
Elmer's - $112.35
Gaspars - $180
Rick's - $190 and $210

That's all I know. Wasn't around for the days of Banana Joe's.

Yeah, I didn't quote the actual costs since I only had information for the last three parties but when I say high cost, it is usually talking about the beer :)

For places like Rock n ports, I have no idea what we paid back then. These rankings are not very scientific, just my thoughts.

We got Rick's down to $175 a keg on the quote they provided us this season. But still....that's way too damn high! Especially considering the number of kegs we were buying and the cost of everything else there.

I agree with Mike, though...Rick's has so much potential as a venue but screws it up each time.

I am suprised Rick's would not work with us on a better price, considering they never seem that busy. You never know what Knowlton negotiated a couple seasons ago when the sponsor bar was a big deal, and that fell apart. Management at Rick's might be holding a grudge against us. Empty promises....

Gaspars>all

Actually just the opposite Smithkey. For me oersonally it is not a big deal since I never had a car for the places where parking wasn't free.

Rollo, if it wasn't for the high cost of beer I would agree with you. The venue at Gaspar's Grotto is the best imo but the high cost knocked it down a spot.

We also had a parties at Green Iguana, Mangroves, and players'
houses (before we got so big). I'm sure there were other places too, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Last season Rick's tried to tell us that we wouldn't go through the amount of kegs that we did and tried to talk us down on the number we needed. We were right! They were friendly, but definitely too expensive, and turning the lights on - definite no go.
