Crystal Pitcher

So allegedly, Team Fabulous and Bye Week tied in the Crystal Pitcher voting this season.  Clearly votes for Paige were not counted again, and THEE Beer Nuts didn't vote for themselves this time.  But despite the mind-blowing statistical coincidence... the outcome seems fitting.  Those teams are God-awful at everything, and they're pretty cool about it.

All that aside... when are we going to overhaul the voting process?  Don't you think electoral voting would be better? Each team submits one vote... and it's the captain's problem to figure out what that vote should be?  This year we thankfully did away with the laughable President and Vice President positions... but even that should have been electoral instead of a 30 minute cluster-fuck of handing out sheets of paper and then watching people cry over the results.

Last season, Breaker Division voted for Crystal Pitcher online.  The voting box even had a reminder: "Do not vote for your own team."  DPT wouldn't comment if they cast any fake votes.  Election results always do seem kinda sketchy.

Finally, I count 8 champagne bottles in the Yeagabomb's victory picture.  I guess 50% participation rounds up to a success.  Still slightly disappointing.

Oh well... have a safe Halloween.

5 of the bottles in that picture came from the Alcoballics, as we had a full case on hand. Not a single team we beat (Shockers, Waka or BnD) provided us with a bottle, or 2, or 4 as you would expect from the normal progression.

Don't worry WAKA, I know it looks like glass, but I assure you those are plastic bottles filled with non-fermented grape juice.

Chandler and I each brought a bottle too. So, two teams, seven bottles, one unaccounted for. I think we can call participation a bust.

Yeah, I thought those crystal pitcher votes were strange too. We didn't play team fab OR bye week, but I never see them at the bar, but... who knows. Then again, I don't recall getting a ballot for the vote either, so I agree the paper ballot system is antiquated and needs work to be accurate.

Apparently all of Team Fab voted for Bye Week... and I assume vise versa. While this strategy could easily put those teams in the top two... an exact tie seems odd, especially since I know a few Ligers voted for Team Fab.

And whatever league Kyle, Souder and I play in next season will overhaul the champagne process. If you don't bring a bottle, you won't get any of ours.

I honestly woke up about 30 minutes before the tournament and still had to make a food/beer run and completely forgot to purchase a bottle of champaign so I will admit the fact that I failed.

As far as the voting is concerned, nobody on my team even received a ballot but that could have been because we were involved in a two and a half hour game.

I do like the idea of each team casting a single vote considering most teams vote as one anyway. Might also help keep votes out of the trash.

I know Missy bought a bottle for the winners on our squad. Crystal Pitcher has turned into the Most Pathetic award

we bought a bottle... not sure if we gave it to anyone or not.
Neither team we beat provided us with a bottle though. I'd Kick That gave us a 2 liter of 7Up lol.

True story about IKT giving the 2 liter of 7up (Josh Hamilton style)to BnD. Frankly, it's all I had over on our side and considering I bought all the food, the tent, and utensils to our area I would have thought someone else would have showed up to share something. We had a week showing and I was let down that no one could even bring a grill let alone a bottle of booze to share. Since no one got a champagne bottle from us I at least hope you got a Busch Light from me at the Bar since I had a $109 bar tab at the Rajun Cajun. Good times.

BnD Guy, I'm pretty sure we asked you guys if you had a bottle and were told you didn't bring one.

And I count 9 bottles in the picture. I win!

I just forgot to get a bottle. Maybe next season.

The OC has a firm stance of not wanting the crystal pitcher, which you've all probably picked up on through our arguing calls and being obnoxious. Thank you for your non-support.

I brought a bottle of bubbly for the Jammers and turned it over to Cathy after those farm animals took us to the barn and whooped us in the first round....don't know what they did with it after losing to PMU in that 11 inning marathon.....

I brought the BC!BC! Bottle to the field and when we FINALLY lost to PMU, handed our bottle and the TJ's bottle over to the PMU guys that were all under their tent.

I'm loving the blame game we got going on about who did what with the champagne bottles.

A suggestion for the next tourney..
The ballics bring "kiddie pools" and fill them up with ice, beer n water and we all grab drinks from the 'pool of trust' throughout the day.

How bout we have a kiddie pool filled up with ice and all 16 teams add their bottles of champagne to it? As each team arrives with their bottle, they can write their team name on the label and add it to the 'pool of bubbly'. Then we can check throughout the day and harrass teams that havent contributed to the pool.

Thoughts?

BnD brought a bottle. a good one. but since i'd kick that and off constantly didn't give us a bottle, i assumed we weren't doing the champagne thing. so it just sat in the cooler. now it's sitting in my refrigerator. geoff and trinihic- never believe anything you hear from a BnD player. alcoballics IOU 1 bottle next season, which you can then give to the jaegerbombs...

Two and a half hour game? 11 innings? What happened to the accuracy kick tie breaker?

Chandler said...

Josh... half the league would probably quit if we were forced to do a tie breaker. Come back to Tampa.

Gorecki... your idea isn't bad. And as I explained to Noble, you need a new name for that pool anyway. "Pool of Trust" is located in Key West, and Florian pissed all in it during the 2008 trip. There's nothing "trustful" about a kiddie pool at PAL which Angie uses to wipe chocolate off her face.

Must you yell, even in writing? I'd say inside voice, but...
