How about the refs? Other than the last call of the 'Ballics game... I didn't hear any complaints. Did anyone else have a problem? We need to keep providing line-judges.

OC 3-0. Opponents' combined record: 0-9. We're the bullies of GKB, beating up the runts of the league each week. Our early season schedule is worse that my alma mater's typical preseason games. At least we threw Miami in there a few years back, and we even had a team coming off of a BCS game in Hawaii. What we've played thus far has been tantamount to Plant High's flag football team, the JV South Tampa Raiders, and Duke coming into the Swamp. Our season basically starts this week against a Growlers team that's winning again.

Saw a lot more folks at the bar this week. Great turnout. GKB is killing WAKA right now.

We definitely need line judges. Our ref was pretty good. He missed a tag up that we made, but other than that was fair, I thought.

Dammit, well, I guess I was wrong. I thought the Ballics won last night, so our combined opponents record is 1-8. Oops.

1-8 is still pretty shitty.

When I kicked, I slipped on first, then second, then finally third base. The bases suck, and flipping them over doesnt help. I think we need to use rubber ones, or nail them into the ground or something. People are going to get hurt with the bases we have

FRANK said...

also the baselines were not straight at all on field three. We need to get a template that makes the bases perfect every time.. Or not let Chandler and Bull set them up. Jagged.

FRANK said...

Ref on field three for game one said that the bunt chasers had 11 people on the field and made one person come off, think it was Caruso. After a play everyone yelled at him and told him we were supposed to have 11.

Shit is getting a little smoother though each week.

Were gonna start having beer olympics for our games every week so we can play for 2 hours too!

@frank The great thing about the field set up is you can actually pick up the bases, move them so the line is straight, put the bases back down, then have fun playing kickball. OR not bitch about the lines and come help the people who are setting up the fields for your damn enjoyment.

I would have but it takes us an hour to get to the game. I get home from work at 530, grab a bite to eat, then go to the game. By the time we get there the fields are set up already. Not trying to piss anyone off, just seems we shouldnt have to set up the bases ourselves

Chandler said...

We don't HAVE to do it ourselves. We just choose to cause we got the measuring wheel and we're awesome.

FRANK said...

just trying to give my opinion and feedback, sorry to piss you off bull

Chandler said...

Oh, and Frank... your field location idea was awesome. We'll call it "The Frank Layout".

bull said...

Well someone has to set up the fields cause the gnomes aren't going to do it for us. Sorry if we get it all set up and it's a little jagged...we'll try harder next time.

I think walking in a straight line is for the birds! Straight lines are overrated and I refuse to walk them.

FRANK said...

im just saying, if we are paying to play kickball, it should be set up perfectly. If it were free, I would have no problem with the lines being jagged. Dont want any unneeded arguments to start over fair/foul calls.

does anyone else like having the cones bolted into the ground at home plate? With the strike zone how it is, the cones kind of get in the way how close they are

Chandler said...

Johnny told me he's looking into getting those smaller cones that only come up an inch or so.

FRANK said...

nice

While I don't mind demarcating a strike zone, I cannot stand having cones there to tell us what we can and can't kick. They force you to take walks, and while competitive me is willing to do that, fun me isn't. I like to kick. Why should I not be able to kick a ball on the border of the strike zone? I got intentionally walked against DAaLtS, and I couldn't do anything about I'd have had to kick through cones.

I really liked the "The Frank Layout." I think it encouraged more socializing and people to hang around for the late games. Good stuff!

I know it has been previously mentioned in other posts but I also think line judges would be a very positive thing. I did it last night and I think someone was telling me at the bar that they did it for the game before theirs (can't remember who, though). Maybe a Captain’s e-mail can go out encouraging teams to arrange among themselves to send line judges the same way we did in WAKA..?

I know it's hard for only two people to set up all three fields in a short period of time so it seems that if the teams who have the 7:15 games pitch in when they arrive that would help. The main issue with the fields that I've noticed is that once they are set up the refs don't want them touched or changed. The 'Ballics had an incident last week where the pitcher's mound was clearly out of place, and when shown this the ref agreed. But then he also said that it shouldn't be corrected because that's how the field was set up. It was a bit ridiculous. The teams who have the early games can look over the field set up when they get out there, make any necessary adjustments, and take a little ownership of the fields they play on. No one had any problems challenging the field set up with WAKA, paid refs shouldn't change that.

I agree with Frank that the bases are very slippery. Rubber ones would be much better.

Definitely getting better each week!!!

If you look at the "Frank Layout" the lines aren't perfectly straight...So Frank has no one to blame but himself...

Remember Frank, wrap it up!
