DPT Golf League!

**EDIT** Go here for the official golf league pagedptgolf.blogspot.com

Outside of the countless kickball seasons, DPT members also compete in soccer, volleyball and bowling leagues (with varying results).  Today, we form our own golf league.

Although... we probably shouldn't.
DPT has always been in favor of slapping little balls with clubs, and even hosts the annual Leif Nissen Memorial Golf Tournament.  But we couldn't find a league in Tampa that fit our schedule or budget.  So Geoff and I decided we should just do it ourselves (which seems to be the trend lately).  Here's how it works:
  • Format will be two-man scramble with head-to-head match-ups. Official rules to be posted later.
  • All teams will be handicapped throughout the season using the USGA formula.  Initial team handicaps will be determined using the "DPT Method of Guessing."
  • Games will be played on Sundays around 10am, scheduled a week or two in advance. If there is a major conflict for most players, games can be held on Saturday or the week will just be skipped.
  • Season length will be determined by the number of teams who sign up.
  • League fee is $10 per player, due the first week.
  • Since we're booking tee-times weekly, there will be 100% flexibility on the courses we play (based on league input). We'll play wherever, and might even throw a par-3 course in there one week.
There are many more details to be ironed out, but we're looking to start in early May.  So let us know if you're interested, keep your Sundays open, and tell us who is on your team.

sorry greens fees

Yep. We'll use the $10 for either a cash prize or trophy. Basically, whatever the league wants to do with it.

is it only for boys????

Of course girls can play. But MOST of the girls I know in our circle of friends are still true beginners. But as long as you can keep up the pace of play, then there's no issue.

For all the females that want to get some practice in, Alison should be setting up trips to Westchase's $10 lessons soon.

Can teammates go "off course" for a "few minutes" during match play?

What a great idea!

Yes, I do have some info to share about $10 group golf lessons for ladies. If you are interested, or know others who are, let me know and I'll add them to an e-mail going out with details.

Angie and I went one Saturday to check it out and had fun! We can tell whoever is interested all about it.

Teneille, there are certainly some ladies we know who golf and aren't beginners. Off the top of my head I can think of Ginny from Off Constantly, Amber, Crystal, Kristen, April Tall, Missy, and Michelle (all of whom played in the Leif Tournament last year). Jen B may play also, but you should confirm that with her. If you are looking to join with a ladies team they would be a good start.

Depending on when lessons are I may be interested Alison, especially is there is a cute golf pro teaching us. hahha.

Love the pic that you selected as I am jumping to try to get out of the picture! :)

Maria: got you. You will receive details. :)

As for the pro talent, there were two that I saw the time Angie and I went (but I know there are others who give lessons sometimes). The main pro is young-ish. He's personable and has an I-work-on-a-golf-course tan. He also doesn't dress like a carrot like that one golfer I see on TV when Chan watches tournaments so that's a good thing. The second one who helps out if the lesson group is large is kind of old. Soooo, yeah...probably not him. But....c'est la vie! He might just strike someone's fancy.

Carrot reference

And Maria, that picture is awesome. There is so much weird shit going on... it's hard to even explain it. Love that you're gingerly leaping (or something).

WTF's up with the Carrot guy?? Never even seen him before and I'm not sure why people don't talk about that get up!!

I really did Laugh Out Loud and I hate that saying!!

Definitely agreed. His outfits are the noteworthy part. Here are some more to give you the giggles, Maria.

Rickie Fowler. 22 years old. Wears the carrot outfit on Sunday because he went to Oklahoma State University. Lives in Jupiter, Florida. Made $2.8M on tour last year. Currently ranked #34 in the world.

You should ask him out, Doda.
