SUPA Vs. DAALTSYLLINAD

Supa started off the night already behind. Our long awaited Cooler Boom Box was locked in Abatte's House as he is chillin' on the roof tops in the Dominican Republic.

<------Abatte's Vacation

Then our fearless chugger Joe, loses the chugoff. We are Visitors.

First 4 innings sucked. Other team scored a run, on a few errors by our team. We were a bit rusty, as expected.

After looking at an early season loss, Supa picked it up in both offense and defense. Maggan and Sandra both had some awesome diving catches to eliminate possible scoring opportunities for the other team. Our two new guys, Flo and Mikey both had some nice catches in the outfield as well. As usual Drew had some nice snags and throws at third. Seasonal Gold Glover.

As we got up in the top of the 5th, we were staring at a 1-0 deficit with 9 outs left. I believe Kristy kicked a nice bunt single to start the inning. I was up next facing their pitcher, who was throwing some 1 bounce, kind of chicken shit, gas. I ground to the second base girl who bobbles it, and tries to make the throw to 2nd. Kristy was haulin ass and it was a close play. Unfortunately, Tony, the 2nd base ref had taken a potty (hotdog) break before the play, and there was noone there to make the call. After some confusion from the other team telling her she was out, she starts the, "should I stay on the bag or should I walk back to the dugout" move. The referee behind the pitcher skiddishly calls her out. She probably was out, but there was some confusion. Our ref seemed cool, but wasnt the most vocal, take charge guy, like paid refs should be. I'll give him a repreive on the first game. With one out, I am at first with a girl up. She bunts, gets out, but moves me to second. With two outs and me on second, Matt, "giraffe legs" Pinkowski is up. He fouls off three one-bounce pitches in a row. The next pitch had some pretty good english on it, enough to where Matt was not able to kick it with his right leg. In a last second ditch effort, he uses his left foot and pops a puny pop up to the Shortstop. With two outs, I was on the move, and tried to distract the SS by stopping in front of her for a split second. She bobbles it and I run home to score. Tied up!

With a little weight off our chests, Supa is looking to capitalize. Next up, Drew Crankin' Rankin blasts a two run HR, clearing the LC fence by a foot. we take the lead by two runs. All of this happened with two, should have been three outs. You could feel the momentum escape from their team after this.

With some good enough to win defense, Supa closed it out in a comeback fashion winning in a very competitive, nail biter 4-3.

While we definitely were rusty on both sides of the game, a few clutch plays on both offense and defense were the difference in this one.

Overall Rankings for DAALTSYLLINAD:

It was a great emotional win for our team.. Lots of ups and downs in this one.

Frank - nice write up and to break up any confusion the girl (Kristie maybe?) was definitely out. It was close but she was out.

Frank, just an FYI...

GoKickball "Playing Rules #9" states:

"9. The Roller (i.e. the pitcher) MUST roll or bounce the ball multiple times in route to home plate. If the Roller one-hops (only one bounce) the ball across home plate or throws the ball in the air and hits home plate without the ball bouncing or rolling that roll is considered a ball regardless if it is less than 6 inches or not."

Sounds like those pitches they were throwing should have been called been balls. Even I knew that rule off the top of my head, just had to check the GKB website to get the exact rule number.

How were they called during your game?
