Next Seasons Ringer!

Sandra's cousin Paul Stoltz is hoping to get a gig down here kicking professionally for a Florida arena league. The kid is sick, and I've seen him kick a 60 yarder before in practice. This league is different than the NFL, in that the field goal posts are only 9 ft wide, as compared to the NFL which is 18.5 feet wide, making kicking a 60 yarder even more of a feat. Trying to get his name out there, in hopes of getting him on the Tampa Storm. Anyone out there have any connections with the Storm? At worst, he'll be leading the way for Supa next season.

Frank I bet with a days worth of practice you could kick a 53 yard field goal, indoors, with no wind, and a smooth consistent surface.

Plus I'm sure he just wants to "have fun & chill" Like you...

Thanks for the words of encouragement bito!

You're welcome. The distance isn't the hard part. It is the timing and the repetition. 53yds isn't as far as you think.

ive tried kicking a 35 yarder before and it's tough as hell. Maybe you have the gift as well.

Ryan said...

35 yds would be like kicking a kickball from home to like 15 feet past 2nd base. I know Sandra can definitely kick it that far and I have seen you belt some pretty far. I bet you have easily knocked some 55/60yds in the air.

well a lot of it is as a kicker you only have time to take like 3 steps back and run up, any further back, it will be blocked. Much easier when you can run up like 10 steps with no pressure/defenders

Sounds like we need a field-goal contest...

Are you two going to be allowed to use a tee?

FRANK said...

Needs me spinach. No tee

No competition. I was just highlighting that frank is no slouch when it comes to kicking. Maybe I got a man crush. Better Frank than Justin or Bull.

Ryan, shoot me an email at bucs75@yahoo.com and I'll give you a couple of contact numbers. I kicked an extra point once for Baltimore due to an injury....so I'm sort of a big deal. Not to brag, but it would have been good from 17.

The open workouts are actually worth it for kickers. They are team fundraisers for everyone else. Good luck!

We want Flo! We want Flo!

$50 Brian? You better bring cash.

You get 3 trys to make it. I'm just telling you that it's not as simple as you think it is. Prove me wrong.
Where is a goal post? I'll bring the tape measure.

I know PAL has one, but they are assholes about their field.

I'm sure we could sneak onto a HS field. Won't take long.

You have a football?

When are we doing this?

FRANK said...

You must do the steps like an actual kicker does. I think it's 3 paces back, then three paces left. 35 yards is makeable for a novice, but 40 is definitely tough

Ryan said...

I'm not going to take a 50ft run up or anything.

I'll do just like a kicker does, a few steps and then kick.

Frank, would you also like to throw some money in the ring? We can make this an event.

Anyone who wants to bet me money that I won't make a 35 yard field goal in three attempts is welcome to put money down.

FRANK said...

il bet $20 for a 40 yarder in 3 shots. I got a bunch of other bets going on right now, so I cant muster up $50

I can flick a paper football across the width of a high school cafeteria table...

Ryan said...

You don't have to bet $50, minimum bet is $10.

So right now I have the following bets lodged:
Frank - 40yds/3 att... $20
Brian - 35yds/3 att... $50

Anyone know where we can find a decent field with field goal posts? Preferably with the yardage already marked. As soon as we get a reliable field, we can set a date and time.

FRANK said...

We can probably sneak over to the PAL fields one kickball night. Maybe get there early or something

H.B. Plant HS is usually open. Geoff's house has some goal posts near him. There are a ton of places.

Ryan said...

Plant is good, it just isn't near anything. We'd either have to do this on Weekend or in the evening, say before Kickball.

I think this place (Cuscadian Park / 2949 Avenida Republica De Cuba
Tampa, FL 33605 ) has goal post and it is only like 5 mins away from KB. I'll drive by there today or tomorrow and check it out.

Or:
Hillsborough High?
Tampa Catholic?
Blake(if we want to get shot)?
Tampa Prep, do they have posts?

Brian & Frank - Lets shoot for next Thursday, prior to kickball.

Chan- Throw some money in!

I'm not touching this nonsense. I think you can kick a 40 yard FG.

Litman said...

Is this going to draw a gathering like the slap off between Tony an Smithkey? I hope this ends like that scene in white men can't jump and you bang a couple off the cross bar.

Nate and I kicked a legit 25 yd'er at an NFL experience once (I had dress shoes on)...
can this be a public announcement so I can watch/record?

FRANK said...

Should we do 3 attempts, or 3 practices and one real attempt?

Chandler said...

3 attempts... no practice

FRANK said...

You bankoing with Ryan on this?

Chandler said...

Haha. No... but I'll show up to film it.

FRANK said...

3 attempts no practice it is!

Ryan said...

I'm going to warm up, at least 3 or 4 times from 25/30 yds.

I'm not going to roll out of my car walk up and start kicking.
