Off Constantly vs Toe Jam Recap

Apparently, the OC does not like playing kickball before our usual WAKA 7pm, except for the Tournament of course, and it showed in our lack of effort through the first few innings. I did not even have enough time to drink away my birthday hangover before we were down 6-0.  We allowed Jason Werth type fly balls to drop in right next to three guys, myself included, while getting no kicked through 3 innings. But then an amazing thing happened. I realized that while the Soul Glo are all well enough folks off the field, I really don't much care for their 'antics' on the field. And I sure as shit don't like losing to them. And that's when it hit me that I have been going through the motions this season as far as being BeardFace. Therefore, I would like to announce in my first blog post in quite some time, that I will be yelling at your team's face during all kickball games.  We can be friends again at the bar.

Also, I don't think that calling a pitch a ball when it is thrown from side arm is enough of a deterrent. Half of Ruben's side arm/overarm tosses were out of the zone already and it encourages walking, which is pathetic in kickball. And since I am a problem solver, I would like to recommend the following rule change: "Any pitch being deemed by the umpired to have been thrown side arm or over hand shall be called a ball. AND the pitcher gets a nice punch in the arm by the captain of the opposing team." That should help to lower some arm angles.

I guess I'll wrap this up with a Thank You to Toe Jam for being you.  Enjoy your week of beating off constantly, Soul Glo.

Capt. BeardFace

ps. Up yours to Yella for not bringing the hunch for the first time in forever coinciding with the match with OC. Shame on you, sir.

Walking is for pussies, so the only way to deter illegal pitching is to be a pussy. That sucks. We need to either legalize dickbag pitching (which would be fine by the OC) or we need to not allow dickbag pitching by removing the pitcher from the game when it happens excessively. We're trying to play by the rules, but other teams clearly do not care.

We're also going to try to start playing defense again. I only got trucked because the throw came way too late from first. We let numerous balls drop with very little effort to get after them, and that includes one by myself.

Hopefully Beardface's return to obnoxiousness will increase our kickball abilities because that was a sad OC effort overall. One error plagued inning plated 4 or 5 runs there, and that was the difference in the game. Can't give breaks like that to a quality team, and the Jammers are definitely a quality team.

Our refs this season are doing a great job. And there is no shame in taking a walk when the pitcher is throwing like a douche.

Beardface.... what on the field 'antics' are you reffering to?
I thought the game went pretty smoothly without issue. Both teams seemed pretty calm and quiet during the entire game. Reffing was great overall.

I know we briefly tried Matt on the mound in the first inning until he kept getting called for illegal pitches, so we pulled him before the inning even ended. I didnt think there was still a controversy to the legality of Ruben's pitches.

Playing Rule #8 clearly states: "The Roller CANNOT sidearm or overhand roll the ball when delivering the ball to the kicker."

Playing Rule #8.1 also states: "The Roller CANNOT throw the ball in any manner that could be referred to as 'Mexican.'"

I think OC had an issue with Ruben and rule 8.1

There is not only shame, there is boredom. We need to actively fight these league maladies. Like I said, if we want to pitch like dickbags, let's all go ahead and do it. Then everything would be fair game and no question about what's illegal and what's not. Otherwise we need to keep it strictly underhand. The tall Growler dude is pretty effective with it, maybe there are other folks who are as well. Underhand kickball pitches don't curve nearly as much as we were seeing the other night.

Griff- Mostly underhand pitching. Tony reffing in the 2nd game was overly annoying. Perhaps, a bit of it was grumpyness due to my hangover. Certainly nothing over the top.
