It happens every season, at least one post about how horrible the refs are, so I figured why not get it started in week 2.
Superbad reffed the Jammer/YLLINAD game at first base. There was a close call there, in which Cj called Mikey safe. He made no hesitation, stood by his call, and never asked for help. After the call was made, the ref runs out to the field and said "you were making the safe call because you thought he bobbled it, which he didn't, so he is out." First, how did he know that Cj was making the call based on the first base guy bobbling it. Cj never did the hand juggling move, and surely never looked like he needed help making the call.
If Gokickball wants us to supply refs at first and third, let them make the call. If they are not sure, let them ask the home plate umpire for help. It is really pointless to have a volunteering ref out there who is trying to make a call, only to be undermined. To top it off, he did appear to be safe at first, meaning Cj did make the correct call.
And I know that there are some new refs out there this season, but this was one of the guys who has been out there since the beginning.
In our game, there were a few calls that could have gone either way, not complaining that the calls were right or wrong, there was just a lot of confusion, and this time the volunteering refs weren't paying attention, and the home plate umpire didn't step up and make a definitive call.
I really dont care that much either way, just thought id make a post so my face doesn't start to get McFly'ed like Buchannon's.
I guess we just need to go over the chain of command for who should make calls when reffing.

Teams are supposed to provide one ref, not a committee. 5 people standing around making calls just gets confusing as shit. When nobody knows who is actually reffing at a particular base, arguments and confusion are going to happen.
Frank is correct in his point that the refs have to make a call and stand by it. In the Ligers vs SuperLost game the ref just whispered his calls and or dind't make one at all and people on the field stood there with our thumbs up our asses wondering what to do with the ball. It doesn't even matter if the call is right or wrong. Make it, yell it, stand by it, and tell the mother fucker that argues to suck it and that's final. Next damn pitch.
When I reffed Kickball Society I had people bitch at me about this too. I would over rule volunteer refs b/c I thought I had a better look at the play than them and as the head ref I have the right to over rule any other ref on the field. Overall I wanted to get the call correct. This is true in baseball and pretty much every other sport. I think the refs we have now are pretty solid and maybe just need to be a little louder and more assertive but thats it. Your not always going to agree with the refs but you just have to remind yourself that its just kickball and were all out there just to have fun and you can still have fun if you lose. Beer Nuts have been doing it for years.
Except he overrulled a correct call. We did still have fun hoe.
Woulda had more fun if you won though right?
